Sacre bleu! A podcast covering Christian Nationalism in Iowa politics features a rather disturbing image of Jesus Christ holding a sword and using it to slice across a map of Iowa, appearing to draw blood.
Who can tolerate such blasphemy?
Well, as Toxic Christianity points out, the real sacrilege may be on the part of Iowa Christians who are sacrificing their spiritual independence to worship the idol of Donald Trump.
It's a "dishonest scheme" that involves Iowa churches claiming tax exempt status even as they surrender their independence to become mere cogs in the Donald Trump for President campaign, as part of what they call the Iowa Faith Leader Coalition.
Perhaps real blasphemy is more than a shocking image. Maybe the most significant irreverence comes from Christians who cast off their morality in order to fawn at the feet of the first billionaire politician who promises them power.
